Traveling in Comfort With The Diono mXT Car Seat…

Traveling in Comfort With The Diono mXT Car Seat…

Before I became a parent I had no idea the amount of choice you had when it came to car seats or how much you had to think about when choosing the right one.

Having been a parent for nearly five years now I’ve learnt a few things and what to look out for. With Holly growing up it was time to review our car seat situation. As Holly was growing out of the car seat she was currently in and as she still needs a car seat with a harness, it made sense for her to have the one that Alice used which has the harness, even though Alice doesn’t use this feature anymore.

This meant we needed a car seat for Alice that was a highback booster with no harness. Diono got in touch to see if we would like to review the mXT car seat and this was ideal for Alice.

There are two main things that I look for in a car seat, the first and always the most important is safety. I don’t think anyone wants to put their child in a car seat that hadn’t met the safety requirements. The second thing is comfort, I want my children to be comfortable in their seats. Long car journeys are not fun if they are moaning.

The minute Alice got in it she commented about how she liked that it was like the seat was hugging her. Her head is nice and snug in the head rest and the sides come round her.

It has good solid arm rests and the seat belt goes either side of it, making it a more comfortable fit for Alice.

It comes with a drinks holder that you can easily pull out. Alice loved being able to reach her own drink easily and there is room for snacks too. There is one on each side of the seat, which means it doesn’t matter which side of the car the seat is used. These can fold away when not in use.

The Important Bits…

The Diono mXT comes with an integrated security strap holding it to the back seat of the vehicle. This keeps the seat in position when it’s not been using and also if you have to break suddenly or when turning a corner.

The headrest is adjustable and along with the reinforced sides are lined with energy absorbing EPS foam for side impact protection.

You can adjust the width of the seat to fit the child, which I haven’t come across before. The 11-position headrest gives lots of flexibility and adjust up to 16cm in height

The seat cover can be removed and is washable, which makes it easy to keep clean. If you need to store the car seat or pack it to travel, it comes apart into two pieces easily to fold flat.

It fits children 15-36kg and 97 to 160cm in height. The Diono mXT has a RRP £85 and it comes in four different colours.

Alice has loved using her car seat over the last few weeks and this is definitely a car seat that is built to last.

Disclosure: We were kindly sent our car seat for the purpose of this review. All views and opinions are my own.

This looks perfect for my son’s next car seat, do you think it’d be suitable for a 3 year old? Also, is the seat part padded? My kids have found all our high back boosters uncomfortable in the past. Sorry so many questions!

Car seats aren’t based on age, it’s down to their weight and height for suitability. Yes, it’s very comfortable x

Oh I really like this! We are nearing a point where Lia doesn’t need the harness anymore so I’ll be looking at buying another seat like this, will definitely look out for this one although I’m not sure I’d be happy about the children being more comfortable than me in the car!

OOh I love the look of this – the little drinks holder is such a fab idea! I also love just how safe it sounds, and so many features to make sure that it really fits the child right. We are just about to put Harry into a stage 3 seat and so I’ve been reading a lot about them, there are SO many on the market right now!!

Oh I think car seats are a bit of a minefield (it doesnt take much to confuse me!)!! Although this looks fab – the headrest looks so comfortable. The drink holder is a great idea. But the winner for me is the fact you can remove the seat cover and wash it – perfect for my very messy children!

I have to say that I am really impressed with the look of this seat and from your review it sounds brilliant! I have been looking for a highback booster seat for our youngest and this looks perfect. The headrest looks really supportive and its great that it is adjustable! Also love that it has a cup holder, perfect for long trips. It seems a bargain being priced at £85 as it is a high spec chair. Thanks for sharing x

What a great seat, it looks really comfy but sturdy too. I love the way the belt goes round the arms, that makes it look very comfortable for the child and the price is very affordable too. Mich x

This looks great; I love the adjustability of it. We’re looking for the next stage car seat for M, as she’s getting close to being too long for her infant car seat now. There’s so much choice now, but I’ll definitely consider Diono when I’m shopping around.

That does look really comfortable! Please tell me you cleaned your car for the photos? It isn’t just my car that looks permanently like someone emptied a rubbish bin into it is it?! 😉

This is a really smart looking seat! I have never heard of a seat where you can adjust the width either. What a great feature and it gives you confidence that it really will last them all the way through. Such a great seat! X
