I can’t believe that we are coming up to 2 years in our new home. In some ways it feels like we’ve always lived here as we all feel really comfortable and at home here. But in other ways it still feels so new and lots of things for us to still do to our home.
One of my favourite things is interiors, I spend hours deciding how I want a room to look, getting it just right. I’ve learnt over the years to take my time and not rush things. Making sure that we get everything just as we want it and not going for our second choices. Which I then end of replacing.
At the moment we’re putting the finishing touches to our family room/dining area. It’s an open plan area with our kitchen and we have laminate flooring throughout the room. Laminate flooring is practical for this space, it’s easy to maintain and keep clean and I don’t have to worry as much with the girls. Thankfully they have lots of different options and it can be stylish, we wouldn’t choose anything else now.
I’ve chosen a hardwearing rug to bring some colour to the room and I love how it has made a difference to the floor.
One of my favourite parts of the room is my unit, it works really well with the floor and it means that I can add lots of personal touches to it. Adding all the little touches is my favourite part of doing any room and when I find something that is perfect for a space, I get ridiculously excited. Please tell me I’m not the only one?
The big decision that we had to make for the downstairs of our house, was if we were going to make the investment into having shutters for the windows. It took us a while to finally decide it was worth the money and the wait to get them done and I’m so pleased that we did. I love them. They really add to the room, bring in so much light still and they are one of my favourite parts of our home now. I just want them in all the rooms, but that will have to happen over time.
The only thing left to do in our family room is add some lights. I haven’t been able to find just the right ones yet, but I know they are out there and it won’t be long until the room is finally complete.
