I was planning on taking a little break from blogging for a few days, but when you wake up to snow it’s pretty exciting and I wanted to capture it here to remember.
We’d had probably one of my favourite Christmas’s. The girls are at a really great age and are both completely immersed in the magic of Christmas.
When Andy and I went to bed on Boxing Day night, we knew there was a small chance we could wake up to snow. A few weeks ago it felt like the whole country had snow, except us and I was praying it was going to finally be our time.
The girls woke up and as they looked out the window, the screams of excitement could be heard as they saw all the snow. I was really excited, as this is the first snow that they will both remember. Last time we had a little bit of snow, both girls were poorly and it didn’t last long. And the time before that Alice was only 3 months old, which of course she doesn’t remember.
We knew that the snow wasn’t going to last long and there was probably only just enough to go sledging and make a snowman. We had breakfast and got dressed as quickly as we could to head outside.
Thankfully we’ve had a sledge for 6 years, waiting to be used and today it was finally christened. The girls loved running in it, picking it up and just experiencing snow in their own back garden.
Andy loaded them into the sledge and we headed to the green that is on our estate, where we thought there might be chance of a slight hill to go sledging on. It wasn’t the biggest hill, but when you are 3 and 5 years old, it doesn’t matter and they thought it was brilliant fun.
We built a snowman and Holly loved it!
There may not have been inches of snow, but there was enough for the girls to have fun and experience their first snow properly. We then went home for hot chocolate and Christmas biscuits.
It was the perfect end to our Christmas…
