Simple Things, Playdates, and Making our House a Home…Happy Days #41

We’ve made it to the last weekend of January! How cold has it been this week? We’ve been spending time snuggled in our warm home.

Let’s talk happy moments…

Number One

On Sunday Alice had a birthday party. We were being picked up by one of her friends and I think this was the most exciting part for her. Every five minutes she was asking me if it was time for them to arrive yet. I love how they get so excited about the simplest of things.

Number Two

Holly and I had a lovely day at home on our own. It’s not very often that we are not rushing of to be somewhere or we have friends over. Of course we love doing these things, but sometimes it is nice to have a lovely relaxed day. We sat on the floor and did puzzles, Holly played doctor and we snuggled on the sofa. It was a lovely day.

Number Three

After moving house before Christmas we are finally starting to get the house looking more homely. I ordered some new blinds this week for the last of the windows that look so bare. I even managed to get them in the sale, always a lovely bonus.

Number Four

Alice went on her first playdate after school and she was so excited. She got ready in double quick time and wrote her friend a letter with a secret message. When I picked her up later, she chatted non-stop about everything she had done. It was so lovely to see her that happy and comforting for me that her friendships are growing.

Number Five

On a Friday Holly and I usually have her ballet class, it was unexpectedly cancelled, giving us a free morning. We went to the shops and then headed to the coffee shop. Where she sat and had a drink with a biscuit. This may not sound like a big deal, but for so long she would want to get down and wander around. Never sitting for very long. But this time, she sat and we chatted and I realised my little girl is growing up.

This weekend we have my family coming over, as my parents are going to Australia for a month next week and it’s our last time to see them. They booked the trip along time ago and I can’t believe it is finally here!

As bitter sweet as it feels sometimes when they’re growing up, the added ease of taking them somewhere and enjoying their company rather than sometimes having to worry that they may either destroy the place or just refuse to sit etc is definitely a plus side. Saying that though, I still miss the wild toddler days sometimes!
