There is so much I did not expect before I became a parent. Even though I had been surrounded by my niece and my friends children, you never really know what it’s like until you become a parent yourself. When it is you that is having to deal with everything, it’s very different.
It starts on day one when you give birth to your baby, no one prepares you for what it is REALLY like. The amount of blood, that first shower and the feeling that your vagina is never going to feel the same again.
Your body changes so much and one area that I wasn’t expecting to be affect as much as it was, is my hair. Still 3 years after having Holly I am feeling the effects. Having hair loss is a big thing for me, my hair has always been something that I’ve taken care of, tried to always look my best and it does have a knock on affect to my confidence.
I’ve had the same hairdresser since I was 15 years old and she has been brilliant. We tried several things over the years to try and overcome this. It’s so much better than it was, but I do often wonder if it will ever be the same again. Its really brittle and breaks easily, which is never good.
There are other things that I have thought about doing, seeking advice from an online pharmacy, eating certain foods and using hair masks.
If only I knew some of the things that I could have done before I got pregnant and taken some preventative action too. But with most things about having a baby, we don’t know until we have one.
And loosing my hair is a small price to pay for having my gorgeous girls and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
