When looking for gifts for friends and family I like to personalise them, whether thats buying them something that they may have mentioned they liked a couple of months before their birthday or something that I know they would love.
I also love it when I find a gift that gives it a bit more of that personal touch. Mr Nutcase has lots of great personalised gifts and they got in touch to ask if we would like one of their personalised mugs.
Now, when it comes to mugs I am a bit particular about them and l like them to match my kitchen (I know I am probably weird!). Plus I thought it would be a lovely way to say thank you to my mum who has been a superstar lately. So, I designed one for my mum.
To personalise your mug you have several steps. First step is which style mug you would like. My mum has recently brought a coffee machine and loves a latte, so I choose the latte mug. The other option is a more traditional style mug.
You are then presented with the design page and there is a mug template, so that you can get a real sense of what your design will look like. You have a few different layout options, if you wish to have more than one photo. I decided to just have one photo on my mug.
The original photo
Next you upload your photo and position it. I wanted a picture of my girls and niece together, my mum’s three grandchildren. I knew she would love it. When deciding which picture to use, I found that having a photo that wasn’t a close up worked better. I choose this photo of the three of them walking hand in hand. I love photos from behind, plus it went around the mug nicely, which meant there was something nice to look at from all angles.
If you want to, you can add text and there is a clip art section. I just went with a photo on mine.
Once you are happy with it, you click buy and it takes you to a screen with a 3D version of your mug. You can move it around with your mouse, its brilliant and gives you a true look at what your mug will look like. I haven’t come across anything like this before.
I took a screenshot to try and give you an idea of this feature.
When it arrived it looked just like it had on screen. I was really impressed with the print detail and the picture was crystal clear. It was a great size too and of course I had to test it out (sorry mum).
For me the sign of a good mug is how much it holds and the size is perfect at 12oz. The RRP is £6.76
My mum loved it too and was thrilled to have a mug that was perfect for her new coffee machine and to have a picture of her three favourite girls on it. It definitely brought me some brownie points!
Disclosure: I was sent my personalised mug in return for an honest review. All views and opinions are my own.
