When I was pregnant with Alice there was one class that I knew I wanted to do and put her name down on the list as soon as I could and that I was swimming classes. For me swimming is a life skill that everyone needs. My mum can’t swim and it was something that she was determined her children could do and we spent a lot of our childhood in swimming pools. We loved it.
This is what I want for my girls. For them to have the confidence and ability to be able to swim. It makes such a difference when you go to places with a swimming pool to know that your child can swim and be safe in the water.
Earlier this year we were invited to be Konfidence Swimologists for the year and as a part of the ambassadorship, we were invited to stay at the Cbeebiesland Hotel at Alton Towers to spend time in the Splash Landings Waterpark to put our Konfidence Swim jackets to the test.
The girls were very excited, they both love to swim and this was a dream come true for them. After a good nights sleep at the Cbeebiesland Hotel, we were ready to head to the waterpark.
When it came to their Konfidence swim jackets, I let them choose the design they wanted and it’s great that they have a choice for everyone’s personality.
Holly’s swim jacket has all the floats in it, as she needs them all to be safe and confident in the water. She is probably a little bit too confident, as she thinks she can actually swim. In our weekly swim lessons, where I’m in the pool with her, she often tells me I can swim all by myself. Which she can if she is a woggle float.
Alice is a very capable swimmer, she is able to swim the length of a pool unaided. However when we come to places like the Splash Landings waterpark, it’s a bit different to a normal swimming pool and she is needs a bit of support. Her swim jacket just has a couple of floats at the back and I’ve taken the rest out.
This means that she is able to swim with confidence, knowing that she has the support of the jacket when needed. It also gives us parents confidence that she is supported too, as it can get busy in waterparks. Also, whilst she might be ok in her 30 minute swimming lesson, she gets more tired when we are in a waterpark for a few hours.
What I love about the Konfidence swim jackets is that they are adaptable for everyones needs.
My girls love a slide and with their Konfidence swim jackets on, they are able to go up and down them by themselves. Which they did, over and over again!
We were really lucky that it was a beautiful summers day and we headed to the outdoor pool too. The girls loved jumping in and there was more room to swim outside too.
And of course to have daddy throw you up in the air!
For me swimming should be fun, yes it’s a life skill and it could save your life. But it is also great fun to do and with places like Splash Landings, there is just so much to do. Both Andy and I love it too and at Splash Landing they have some big flume rides that we snuck off to have a go on.
They also had slides in the outdoor pool that both the girls could go on because they had their swim jackets on. There was no height restrictions, you just had to wear a buoyancy aid and be with an adult. This was the first time we were able to enjoy slides all together as a family and we had the best fun. We must’ve gone down them 4 times and for little Holly who is my daredevil and normally misses out for not being tall enough, she loved it!
We had one of my favourite days in a long time. The girls loved it, we loved it and there was something for everyone. Swimming is a big part of who we are as a family and I can’t wait for another opportunity to be in the pool having fun.
Disclosure: We’re working with Konfidence this year as brand ambassadors. This post is in collaboration with them, however all views, opinions are my own.
