Last week we had our first family holiday in Cornwall and I’ll get straight to the point, we loved it. As a family we’ve spent many wonderful holidays in Pembrokeshire, but this year we fancied a change. A chance to show our girls more of the country that we live in.
We booked our holiday back in January and with us having both the girls birthdays in August, Andy always likes to take his 2 weeks off work to make sure he isn’t working on their birthdays. That meant being away for one of their birthdays and we spoke to Alice about it and she loved the idea of being on holiday for hers. Decision made, we booked it up.
After a long journey on Saturday we arrived at our home for the week and we fell in love with it straight away. We did all the practical things to get us set up for the week and couldn’t wait to start exploring the next day.
We had 2 lovely days, including Alice’s birthday which she loved. But towards the end of her birthday she started to feel unwell and after a call to 111, we had to head to the local hospital. We were sent home with some medicine and Alice spent the next day in bed, being sick a lot. Why do these things always happen when your on holiday?! Andy took Holly out for the day and I spent it watching a sleeping Alice.
The next day Alice still wasn’t 100%, but a lot brighter and had stopped being sick. I took Holly out in the morning and then after lunch Alice felt well enough to get some fresh air. We headed to the beach, put the beach tent up and Alice led down in there. She said it felt good to be out, and managed to enjoy it a little bit.
Thankfully the next day Alice was back to normal, luckily children bounce back quickly and we could head out for the day as a family again. We spend the next couple of days fitting in as much as we good and enjoying our holiday again.
We loved Cornwall, it’s such a beautiful part of our country and we would love to go back. I think next time, we would choose more of a seaside place to stay.
