Colette from We’re Going On An Adventure recently tagged me in a random Q&A, which is a chance to you all to find some random facts about me!
When was the last time you cried?
At least once a week, if not more! Since becoming a mum, I cry at everything. Television programmes, an advert, when reading a book, basically all the time. The last time was earlier today at Alice’s parents evening, the prick of the tears came when they were talking about Alice (in a good way!). I get really emotional when people talk about my girls, especially when they are praising them.
If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
Gosh that’s a tough one! A few years ago I would have immediately said yes to this. But I know that my post natal depression has massively affected me, who I am as a person and the type of friend I am. Just typing this has made me really reflect on what an affect PND has had on my life and the relationships I’ve got with people. I think this could be a whole blog post on it’s own!
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I wouldn’t say I use it a lot. But I do use it and I like it in other people!
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their clothes probably! I have a massive tendency to over worry about what I should wear to things. I would hate to go anywhere and feel like I was under dressed or over dressed. I don’t want to stand out as THAT person! So, as quick glance at what they are wearing to put myself at ease or head to toilet when I realise I’ve got it wrong.
Scary movie or happy endings?
Always Happy Endings! I want to feel good and be left smiling.
My girls after a bath, I love those snuggly cuddles and I give them a good sniff! I also love the smell of coffee, fresh bread and anything that reminds of something happy.
What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
Australia! Andy and I went there on a honeymoon and it was incredible. We got married in November, but waiting until Boxing Day to fly out, as we really wanted to be in Sydney for New Years Eve. We started in Melbourne, flew to Sydney on NYE and stayed there for 5 days. Then we flew to Ayres Rock, which is stunning and had just over 24 hours there, before flying to Cairns and spending 5 days there. It was amazing and I feel really lucky that we were able to go.
Do you have any special talents?
Not really! I really should work that…
Where were you born?
The Royal Berkshire hospital, where Andy and Alice were also born. Holly was meant to be, but that is a whole other story.
What are your hobbies?
Blogging! I guess some people might say that it’s become more than that and hopefully one day I can call it a full time job. But it is the only hobby that I’ve stuck to, that I still love and it’s become like a third child.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. It was what I played at being the most when I was a little girl, it didn’t turn out to be my career choice. I now see Alice playing teacher just like I did and I often wonder if this will her path.
How many countries have you been to?
As a child I didn’t go abroad until I was 14 years, unless you count the channel islands, but I think that might be cheating! My love of travel definitely came as an adult and I love to explore the world we live in. I think I’ve been to about 15-18 different countries and if you count repeat trips to countries, but staying in different parts. Then it would be more likely 20-25 trips abroad. My next plan is to show our girls more of the world!
What was your favourite/worst subject in School?
I hated maths and it wasn’t that I was particularly bad at it, I think it was the teacher that made me not enjoy it. Which says a lot I think. I loved English and Home Economics and then at sixth form I did sociology and LOVED it.
What is your Favourite drink?
Diet Coke, always Diet Coke! And coffee as a hot drink and this has definitely grown more into my thing over the last 5 years as a parent. I dream of having a bean to cup coffee machine!!
What would you (or have you) named your children?
When I was growing up I always wanted to call my daughter Alice and I was so worried that people would pinch it, I only ever told my nan!! Then when I got pregnant and found out I was having a girl, I just prayed that Andy loved the name just as much as me. Thankfully he did and I didn’t know any little girls or babies with the name, which was a bonus. After having Alice I would have a list of names on my phone, that I would hear and loved watching television, in books etc. Then I became pregnant the second time and much to my excitement found out Alice was going to have sister, we went through my list of names and there was 2 that we both liked. I let Andy have the final choice of Holly, as I had chosen Alice. I adore both their names and they both really suit them I think.
Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?
I used to watch YouTube a lot, but have found it harder and harder to find the time. When I do have time, I watch Mummy Daddy Me and JK and Charie , plus I dip in and out of other people.
How many Boyfriends have you had?
Including Andy, as obviously he started as my boyfriend, even he did quickly become my husband!! About 6 I think.
Favourite memory from childhood?
That’s a tough one as I was really lucky to have a wonderful childhood. A lot of my favourite memories are from our family holidays, as I really cherished the quality time we had with no distractions. Plus Christmas’s too, as I had every Christmas at home with my grandparents coming to stay.
How would you describe your fashion sense?
Very Mum style! Always in jeans, with boots in the winter, trainers in the spring and flip flops in the summer.
Tell us one of your bad habits!
ooh tough one. It used to be biting my nails, but I have finally grown out of that (it only took me about 33 years!).
There you go, a little bit about me…
