A while ago I shared with you a tour of the girls playroom and as our lounge is all part of this room, I thought I would show you the other part of the room that is our lounge.
When we moved to our home, the one thing that Andy really wanted to do was put the TV on the wall. I wasn’t too sure about it, but the layout did work well with the idea and as Andy is normally really good at letting me decide on the interiors I went along with it.
I’m really pleased with how it looks and it does mean there is more room for me to buy lots of lovely bits for the TV unit, a win win!
As I talked about in my post about the playroom, as you come through the door the left side is the girls playroom area and then on the right is our lounge. I really like that we have our own lounge space, but the girls can play in it during the day and tidy it all away at night.
The two areas are naturally separated by one of the sofas. We had these sofas in our old house and as much as I would love to change them, that won’t be happening for a while.
There is a large box window to the side of the house and we’ve got a beautiful unit that sits nicely in this space. With one of my favourite items in this room, the tripod style lamp. It fits perfectly and I’m really pleased with this area.
I’ve added pops of yellow throughout the room and I love these frames, which of course have photos of my gorgeous girls in them.
When we moved into our home, we really wanted to have shutters downstairs at the windows. They are a big expense and we thought about it for a while. I’m so pleased we made the decision to have them done, they have really made this room and we will slowly get the whole done as we save up for them.
When I saw this little guy, which is actually a door stop I just had to buy him. I thought he would be perfect sat in this little spot! The poor fella gets used by Holly to stand on so she can see out the window all the time!!!
Just to the side of the window, we’ve put up some photo shelves and again I’ve added some yellow frames to add some colour to the wall. What I love about the photo shelves is you can easily update the room with new frames, when you fancy a change (which I like to do a little bit too much!).
In the other corner of the room is my favourite areas of the room, with my photo ladder frame which I was really pleased to find.
I love a house plant, even if I’m not very good at keeping them alive. But this one isn’t doing too badly! And I love the throw that adds some colour to this area and it’s really snuggly to get underneath on the sofa.
For me a room isn’t complete without a rug. I spent ages looking for the right rug, I originally wanted a more colourful one, but I just couldn’t find one that matched the colours right. Then when I found this rug, it looked super soft and I decided to go for it. I’m really pleased that I did, as I love it.
As we make our way back to the beginning of the room by the door, we have a side table next to the sofa.
Here is a view of the room, looking down it and you can see the full half of the house with the girls play area at the end.
I really love the layout of this area and how light it is. As the girls get older it is definitely a room that will change a lot. I think long term we will change the fourth bedroom to be a den for them, keeping the guest bed which doubles up as a sofa.
I’ve made a video giving you a tour of the lounge as it can be hard to really appreciate the space in photos.
That would leave us with a few different options on what to do with this space. Just thinking about it makes me excited, but I don’t want to wish my girls growing up too quickly, so that can definitely wait.
