My Little Snapshots…

My Little Snapshots…

This week has been mainly us getting used to our new school routine. Holly is only on half days at the moment, which means I’m back and forth to the school all day long. Add in swimming lessons and Alice’s gymnastics, its all a bit crazy. But I know in a few weeks it will all settle down and we will have got into a pattern.

I’ve been struggling this week with missing Holly. I’m just not used to there being no little person at home with me and when I go to do things that we would normally do together, it doesn’t feel right. Everyone says it will get easier and I’m hoping that happens soon.

Here is my little snapshot of this week…

Windsor On Sunday last week we headed to Windsor for the day. We had a lovely look around Windsor Castle, Alice is always really fascinated with castles and the olden days. We then walked around the gardens of Windsor, along the River Thames and just enjoyed the late sunny day. Ice cream and milkshakes were also a big part of the day!

Gymnastics… Alice has a love of gymnastics, I’m not too sure where it has come from. Everything she knows she has taught herself. She has been waiting to turn 6 years old to join a local gymnastics class and then we had the agonising wait over the summer to find out if she had a place or not. When the email arrived to say she did, she was SO happy. On Tuesday she had her first class and she was excited all day long, she absolutely loved it and I can see this is going to be the nightlight of her week.

Play Date… With Holly starting school, not only is it about her making new friends, but also me making new mum friends. This doesn’t come natural for me, I just always start in a place where I think people won’t like me and I’m not why I do it. My nerves and anxiety can make me look standoffish. But I’ve been trying really hard to not let this define me, for Holly as much as for me. This week Holly and I got invited on a playdate after school and it was really lovely to see the girls playing and for me to chat over coffee with her mum. Maybe second time around, I’m getting better at this.

Autumn Clothes… Anyone else not know what to wear at the moment? One minute it’s a bit chilly and I’m reaching for a jumper and the next minute I’m taking it off again. I recently had a little shopping spree and I filmed a Autumn/Winter Clothes Haul if you fancy a watch. At the moment it’s all about the raspberry jeans for me!

Television … I don’t watch that much television anymore. But I find at this time of year good series start to come on and at the moment Andy and I are loving that Bake Off is back! We also have The Bodyguard all lined up to watch, I’ve heard great things about it.

Life is Busy… Does anyone else just feel that life is too busy? I just constantly feel like we are chasing our tails, that we never actually get a chance to sit down and plan what we would like to do, because things are just thrown at us and before we know it the calendar it looking very full. I’m trying to make sure that I keep some time back, especially time for me.

This weekend… The girls and I are spending Saturday with my parents before they head off on holiday. Then on Sunday I’m heading to London with my SIL to do the O2 climb, eek… It was my birthday present from her and my brother and I’m excited to do it!

I hope you all have a brilliant weekend!

Good luck with the climb. I’m with you on the clothes front, stuck in-between summer and autumn! Life is definitely busy, feel like I need an extra day of the week.

I can totally relate to anxiety when it comes to making new mum friends. My youngest started school also, and I’ve actually made a new friend also, due to our daughters being good friends, atm we’ve only chatted at the school gate while waiting, but my anxiety is no longer holding me back from walking over and having a conversation. Well done to you for not letting it hold you back either, such a big step.
Enjoy the 02 climb, and have a fab weekend.

I am loving those jeans they look great on you. We have been watching the Body guard and I can’t wait for the final. Although I am somewhat frustrated that you have to wait week on week lol. I hope routine is settling down and you are getting use to not having a little person at home all day xx

You’re doing fab on the mum friends thing, its taken a year for me to start going beyond just saying hi to the other mums. Well done to Alice on getting her place at gymnastics, hope she continues to enjoy it. Hope you enjoyed the O2 climb – you’re so brave! x

Oh for sure life is so busy, it just makes me want to hibernate in this weather. Your climb sounds fun if not a little scary. Enjoy the weekend
