My Girls…June 2016

My Girls…June 2016

Our Tuesday’s are normally spent with a visit to my parents house. The girls have a play in the morning and then after lunch while Holly is napping I take Alice to her ballet class. It has become the perfect Tuesday.

This week, we had half term from ballet and it was perfect timing as Alice had her first preschool trip to the local museum. Alice was a bit apprehensive about going and we had a few tears as we walked up to the door. Thankfully her little friend was arriving at the same time and when Alice saw her teachers the tears stopped. I don’t think she realised they were going to be there too and in the end she happily walked in holding hands with her friend.

It was only a short trip so Holly and I went off around the shops. When we went to pick Alice up, I was so happy to see her run out with a big smile and so much to tell me she was bursting.

Alice was so excited that she had seen a picture at the museum of the castle we visit. So, after lunch I decided we would have a trip to the castle. There isn’t much of the castle left and it’s not one that you can go inside, but there is a lot of grass and a great place to run and kick a ball.

Alice was very excited when I told we could go and she talked about seeing it at the museum the whole way there, thankfully only about a ten minute drive.

You have to walk up a big hill to get to it and I wasn’t sure if Holly would make it, but bless her little legs got her to the top.

The last time we were there Alice was pretending to go on a bear hunt and Holly was only crawling. It was so lovely to see Alice getting her sister to join in and they were peering in to look for any bears.

Then off they went to the other side to see if they could find them.

It was just lovely to watch Alice’s imagination take over and make it fun for them both. But sadly no bears on the other side either…

They kicked the ball around…

They sat down for a rest, well Alice did…

They walked along the stepping stone…

And they ran…

I will be honest and admit that at times they were running in different directions and I hadn’t quite anticipated their love to climb, there were a few heart in mouth moments for me!

We didn’t stay long, but long enough for Alice to enjoy seeing the castle from the picture and long enough for Holly to have fun looking for bears with her sister and definitely long enough for mummy who decided that next time we came it would be with daddy…

I do love their summer dresses, so cute! It’s lovely to see kids exploring the outdoors isn’t it, especially if it’s a castle 🙂 x

I love the honesty that they weren’t often running in the same direction – I often feel that way with my three, having to choose which one to keep my eye on the most!

Isn’t it so lovely to live near such ace places to get their imaginations going. Last time we went out to Lyme park we walked up to the keep and pretended we were looking for rapunzel, just like your littles looking for the Bears! Very sweet xx

  10. What a wonderful place to explore and love how much fun your gorgeous girls are having and how they are using their imaginations to make it even more magical. I have a similar problem with two going off in different directions and wanting to climb – it certainly does make for a few heart-in-mouth moments! I especially love the photo of Holly and Alice holding hands – the bond they have always comes across as being so strong in all your posts and it is so lovely to see it in the photos 🙂

Oh I feel your pain of running in two different directions! I’m thankful that most of the time they are running with tor after one another because otherwise I would need eyes in the back of my head! Lovely shots X

  14. what lovely photos, they really do look like the best of friends. I wish my three children got on so well as all they do is fight x

This is such a lovely post. Your daughters clearly adore each other and it is gorgeous that they both got involved in Alice’s bear hunt. Those photographs are beautiful and perfectly capture what sounds like the perfect day (apart from the climbing and running off in different directions). Hugs Lucy xxxx

What a lovely adventure for sisters to share. It’s great when the eldest can pass on their imagination and ‘expertise’.
I’ve been in the same boat with each running in different directions, luckily with other mummy’s (of one each) around to help!
A lovely post, thanks for sharing x
