Me and Mine A Family Project…October 2017

One of the things that I am always going to be thankful for my little online space is all the family photos that we’ve taken. I just love it when we get a photo of all of us, they each have a story to tell and you can see the subtle changes in us as we all grow. To remember what we were doing at that moment in time, is the whole reason I write my blog and I know I will treasure looking back.

The first few weeks of this month seemed to fly by as they always do with the everyday routine that school brings. But then half term arrived and it not only meant a week with both my girls home, but also Andy had the week of too. Time seemed to slow down for us and we had a wonderful week together.

It started with a trip full of happy memories for Andy and I, when we took the girls to Bath. Bath holds a special place in our heart, as we spent a couple of day there after our wedding for our ‘mini moon’. We’ve been wanting to take the girls there to show them this beautiful city and we had an incredible day.

The week was then filled with days out, pumpkin picking at our favourite place. Trips to the cafe for coffee and cake, which is our favourite thing to do and something that we probably do too often.

When I asked Alice what we wanted to do while she was off, she asked to go swimming. I have to admit it’s not my favourite thing to do. The after swimming changing fiasco is never fun. But I have to remember that they love to swim and I do have two water babies on my hands and it is worth the effort to see the smiles. Alice was a brave girl and went down the flume sat on a rubber ring all by herself, she was a bit nervous, but at the end you could see from her face how proud she was of herself for doing it.

We had a day out with friends and our gang of girls all had a brilliant time. The weather was incredible for a late October day and the coats even came off. The girls scooted, played in the park and didn’t stop all day. It was one of those days where life just fell into place and there was no meltdowns from children or adults!

As the week came to an end I can honestly day I wasn’t ready for it to end and for Andy and Alice to go back to work and school. I know we all strive on routine, but when we don’t have it life does seem that little bit easier and less hectic.

Our photos were taken when we were out for a trip to the cafe, I told you we like to go a lot, at the weekend and whilst I hadn’t been planning to take them we spotted a little place to a run about and the girls were on good form.

These photos as they all do tell a story. If you look closely Holly is clutching stones in her hand that were her treasure she had collected. Her eyes are looking off to the side, as she is eyeing up some more to go and get. Alice is all snuggly with her daddy and in just a really loving mood.

And then there is the crazy one and also the one where the girls knocked my camera off centre! But I love their smiles in it.

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful half-term. I’m with you on not being the biggest fan of swimming but it is lovely when you see how much fun the children are having. Well done to Alice on going down the flume. Lovely family photos as always. It is so nice to have those monthly photos to look back on and see those gradual changes over time x

I’m so glad you all had an amazing half term – you managed to pack in so much! Love these photos, and I love that you told the little story behind it that just brings it all to life. I wrote something similar in my post about how lovely it is to see all the little changes in the photos month by month – this project is the best thing that’s come out of blogging for me.
