Me and Mine…A Family Project October 2016

Me and Mine…A Family Project October 2016

Seriously where did October go? It only feels like yesterday I was writing last months post with us on hay bales!

October has been all about us getting used to our new family life with Alice at school. The routine that school brings to all our lives. I’ve been getting used to being a school mum, the washing and ironing of the uniform. Reading her library book during the week, the constant letters home telling me about a school event, or to take wellies to school. There is always something that we have to do or remember to do.

The best bit is that Alice has settled in well. She is making new friends and comes home with a smile every day telling me all about it.

Holly has got used to Alice not being at home and no longer tells everyone we meet that Alice is at school. We’ve been getting used to it being the two of us and going on some adventures in the morning. There have been a few times where Holly has still been napping when we need to leave to pick Alice up from school and its not great having to wake her up. But, I guess that is the life of a second child and thankfully she isn’t grumpy and just gets excited when I tell her we are off to get Alice.

This month has also been a month of big decisions for us as a family and we are making plans for the future. Just when I think life is settling down, we go and throw that out of the window. But we know this is the right decision for us all and we are getting excited for the next chapter in our life. I will share with you all soon….and no we are not having a third baby!

October ended with half term and a very tired Alice, I shared yesterday about the ups and downs we had. We had a lovely family day yesterday taking the girls out on their bikes and we were all pretty exhausted as Holly woke us up at 4.30am, thanks to the clocks changing. Alice wasn’t far behind her.

Alice goes back to school on Tuesday and we have one last family day tomorrow. Whilst we love having Alice home, she is desperate to get back to school and whilst I still don’t like the school run, it is nice to get back to our normal routine.

Our pictures this month were taken on a walk through the woods, they are not the best, Holly was in a mischievous mood that day and wanted to be off. But this is us in October…

This is the moment that a cow was getting really close to us…

I thought I would share with you this photo, as this is what happens when I am setting up the camera. We always time it with snack time for the girls. Then hopefully once they are finished they are in a good mood for some photos 🙂

Haha hope the cow didn’t get too close! It’s funny isn’t it how little ones seem to crave getting back into a routine – we were away for a week and I know Indie just couldn’t wait to get home to just play with her toys and relax haha. These are gorgeous pictures! xxx

I love the cow approaching photo too! Taking snacks to have while you set up the camera is a fab idea, I will have to remember that for next month. Its awful to disturb the little ones naps for the school run, especially when they haven’t had much sleep. The last week before half term is always the worst, the children are so tired and ready for a break, its nice to see them so refreshed and eager to go back! Beautiful photo, and I love Alice’s stripey hat and scarf!

Love the idea of a pre-photo snack! That might work for mine too. Lovely photos.

  6. Love the photo where the cow was approaching! Good idea to give the girls a snack before the photo and I love this month’s location. Glad to hear that you are all getting used to the routine of schooldays and looking forward to hearing what your exciting news is in due course! 🙂 #meandmineproject

October has whizzed by here too, glad you are all finding your new normal with Alice at school, it takes a while for it all to settle down doesn’t it? I am sad they are back at school tomorrow as half term is just lovely. Love the mischief in these photos 🙂 #meandmineproject

What a great idea – snack time is always a happy time for my boys too haha! Love your photos – I would’ve been freaking out behind a calm exterior (for the kids) if a cow had gotten close to me. I live in the country surrounded by farms too – you’d think it would happen more often! x

That’s a great idea to have snack time before captures. My two are always on the move and wanting to go off and refuse to sit still and smile at the camera. I might have to try this tactic. I do sometimes use bribery but usually don’t have anything on me at the time I must plan better. 😉 Gorgeous family captures and really memories to go with them. #meandmineproject
