February has been a funny month for us, my parents went to Australia for the whole of February and got back on Sunday. It was strange not seeing them, as we see them every week and Holly and I missed our Monday morning meet up with my mum. But we saw them today and it was lovely to see Holly so excited to see them.
It has also been a month where we really started to make the house, a home. Pictures are on the walls. rugs have been brought and curtains have been hung. All these little things really make it feel like we are living here and not squatting.
Andy and I even managed to have a night out together with our friends, something that we don’t do enough of and is definitely something we need to make more time to do this year. We went out for dinner and to the cinema and it was a really great night.
At the weekend Andy and I were chatting about Holly, who since being in a bed gives us the run around for about 20 minutes each night. And whilst at the time you want to scream and its very frustrating, in the grand scheme of things it is only 20 minutes and then you don’t hear from her until the morning. Which since moving her to a bed has become later, which is amazing! Anyway we were chatting about it and Andy said, it does feel like life is becoming easier one step at a time and he is right, it is. Yes, we have new challenges with having older children. But when I think back to what it was like only ten months and I was barely getting two or three hours sleep, it definitely has become easier.
I love that the four of us are a family, a unit and that we love being in each others company. I know that I couldn’t have done this parent thing with anyone other than Andy. I look at the pictures of us and it makes my heart swell. My girls adore each other and they have the best daddy in Andy, who has completely embraced a life with girls. There is nothing that he wouldn’t do for any of us girls and I have to remind myself of this.
I am so excited for spring to arrive and to have more chance to get outdoors. We’ve been braving the cold anyway, as we love to get out in the fresh air. We definitely all feel better once we’ve been out and the girls have got rid of some of that energy they have.
These photos are taken at the park, I wasn’t planning on taking our photos when we went. But, I happened to have my camera and we had the park to ourselves. I had to balance the camera on top of the train to get the pictures of the four of us. But these photos are what we are all about as a family, having fun at the park, one of life simplest pleasures.
Holly took this next one and I just had to include it!
Andy was trying to be funny about me taking photos, but then Alice photo bombed him and I just had to include it! That will teach him…
Holly is my little dare devil and poor Andy couldn’t run fast enough for her. I love how excited she is!
This isn’t the best photo ever, but what I love is you can see from both Holly’s and my face how much fun we are having and for that reason I love it.
