Me and Mine A Family Project…December 2017

Me and Mine A Family Project…December 2017

I can’t believe that Christmas is over and we are on the brink of saying goodbye to 2017. I know this is a cliche to say, but that was a quick year. This time last year we had moved into our new house only 3 weeks before and we were amongst the chaos of Christmas and still had a room full of boxes to unpack.

2017 started with us getting organised and settling into our new home, which to be honest felt like home the minute we walked in. The girls settled immediately into their bedrooms and we just felt at home here straight away.

I love spending time making a house a home and whilst I have loved buying bits and pieces for our lovely home, one thing that has frustrated me is the lack of not being able to paint and decorate. But with the first year behind us, I now have free rein to add a splash of colour on the walls.

Life as a family has been brilliant this year, we’ve had lots of lovely days out and one of the best things we did was invest in a National Trust Membership, as we love nothing more than going for a nice walk. We had a wonderful holiday in Wales, which I look back at with fond memories.

The last month has felt like a crazy busy month and we’ve definitely all benefited from the Christmas break. Alice was exhausted by the time the end of term arrived and Andy needed a break from work life. I love this time of year, as it feels like the whole country shuts down a bit. Everyone is wanting some down time and life is a slower pace.

I had planned on taking some family photos of us on Christmas Day by the tree, with my parents staying I thought it would be a great opportunity to get my mum to take a couple of snaps. But when the day came it was just all a bit busy and with us hosting Christmas I had a lot to do and hardly took any photos at all.

Thankfully I had taken a photo of us, some fun Christmas selfie’s, which the girls had great fun doing. So, this is us in December, a little bit crazy in the lead up to Christmas!

I can’t believe that I now have another 12 months of family photos to look back at and treasure forever. This is by far one of the best things to come from my blog, to have all these wonderful photos of the four of us.

  1. It’s funny how quickly a house can become home isn’t it – our new house was exactly the same – it felt like home the moment we walked in, before we’d even bought it, and I never really had that feeling from our last house – it was nice and practical and all those sort of things but it never felt quite as special as our current one – which is why we are never ever moving!! I love your selfie pictures this month – they’re gorgeous and I know what you mean about finding Christmas Day a bit of a squeeze for photos!

Such a gorgeous collection of photos. I agree in that this year feels like it went by far too quickly, and I’m sad to see 2017 go but looking forward to 2018 #meandmineproject

Lovely snaps. It can be a bit hectic at Christmas trying to get photos taken with the family. We managed to do it Christmas Day somehow. Thankfully we didn’t have to cook for anyone else but just us. #meandmine

  6. Having all those family photos to look back on is such a lovely thing isn’t it? I have so few from before taking part in the Me and Mine project. Love your fun festive selfies and looking back on your photos from the year. National Trust membership is brilliant – we got ours a couple of years ago and it’s been well worth it. Happy New Year to you all x #meandmineproject

So many gorgeous photos to look back on your year! The bluebell photo I think is my absolute favourite, it seems to capture you all so well. We were the same on Christmas Day – I’d hoped to get a lovely one of us all in our Christmas hats by the tree, but in the rush of everything and with various moods to accommodate, it just didn’t happen. But I’m trying to step away from the camera a bit in situations like that anyway, so I think it was for the best 🙂 I feel exactly the same as you – I’m so pleased that I discovered this linky and it’s inspired us to capture our family as the months and years pass. Looking forward to seeing all your photos in 2018!
