I can’t believe that Christmas is over and we are on the brink of saying goodbye to 2017. I know this is a cliche to say, but that was a quick year. This time last year we had moved into our new house only 3 weeks before and we were amongst the chaos of Christmas and still had a room full of boxes to unpack.
2017 started with us getting organised and settling into our new home, which to be honest felt like home the minute we walked in. The girls settled immediately into their bedrooms and we just felt at home here straight away.
I love spending time making a house a home and whilst I have loved buying bits and pieces for our lovely home, one thing that has frustrated me is the lack of not being able to paint and decorate. But with the first year behind us, I now have free rein to add a splash of colour on the walls.
Life as a family has been brilliant this year, we’ve had lots of lovely days out and one of the best things we did was invest in a National Trust Membership, as we love nothing more than going for a nice walk. We had a wonderful holiday in Wales, which I look back at with fond memories.
The last month has felt like a crazy busy month and we’ve definitely all benefited from the Christmas break. Alice was exhausted by the time the end of term arrived and Andy needed a break from work life. I love this time of year, as it feels like the whole country shuts down a bit. Everyone is wanting some down time and life is a slower pace.
I had planned on taking some family photos of us on Christmas Day by the tree, with my parents staying I thought it would be a great opportunity to get my mum to take a couple of snaps. But when the day came it was just all a bit busy and with us hosting Christmas I had a lot to do and hardly took any photos at all.
Thankfully I had taken a photo of us, some fun Christmas selfie’s, which the girls had great fun doing. So, this is us in December, a little bit crazy in the lead up to Christmas!
I can’t believe that I now have another 12 months of family photos to look back at and treasure forever. This is by far one of the best things to come from my blog, to have all these wonderful photos of the four of us.
