August you’ve been the crazy busy month that you always are, full of so many memories.
It’s the month that the three people that complete me and are my whole world have their birthday’s. Alice is first, then five days later is Andy and then six days it’s Holly’s turn. It’s busy and a bit full on and by the end of it we are all a bit caked out. But I wouldn’t change it.
The girls love having their birthday’s close together and it means that no one ever really feels left out. They both get their moment to be in the spotlight.
One thing we did differently this year was to give Alice a school party and to have it early before school broke up. It can be tricky having parties over the summer holidays because everyone is busy having their own holiday or having that important family time. It worked really well and definitely was less stressful for me.
Alice’s birthday fell on a Sunday this year and we had family over for a barbecue, Alice was so excited, as we normally do the family barbecue for Holly’s birthday and she was pleased it was her turn. The sun shone and she had a brilliant day. I mean who wouldn’t love the chance to celebrate twice!
A couple of days before Holly’t birthday we had a couple of days away and we took her to Peppa Pig World. She is Peppa mad and whilst she has been before this is the first time she actually really got it. It was like all her dreams came true and she had the best day.
The day after Holly’s birthday we set off on our family holiday. We had been looking forward to it all summer and it was nice to finally get away and have some time together as a four away from the daily routine. We’ve come to Pembrokeshire in Wales and so far we’ve picked a good week as the weather has been kind to us.
Whilst I’m trying to have a bit of a blogging break while we are away I really wanted to capture our family photos this month whilst we were away, as they sum up August for us. Thankfully Andy agreed…
But then as what quite often happens when you are on holiday you loose track of what day it is and if you asked me the date I wouldn’t have a clue. Which resulted in a bit of a panic as I realised that the last day of month was tomorrow and we hadn’t done our photos.
Luckily everyone was in a good mood and we headed just outside our lodge to the lake we’re overlooking to quickly take some snaps. With no tripod, as that was back in the car I balanced my camera on the bank and just prayed.
This is us on our family holiday in August…
It then went all a bit crazy and we attempted (and failed!) star jumps!

These are absolutely gorgeous Laura – so natural and so much happiness. I love the one with Alice and Holly on your shoulders – poor Holly looks like she’s getting a bit strangled! What a fabulous August you’ve had, so many celebrations and trips – it’s lovely to squeeze so much into the last part of the summer holidays!
