When we brought our house one of the things that we loved was, the double garage. Previously we had no garage and so this felt like a luxury to us. It’s the little things in life that make us happy!
Of course what always happens when you are given extra space, you fill it and normally not with useful things. This is exactly what has happened to our garage. It has become a dumping ground and it has made us lazy. It is full of furniture that we no longer need and boxes. Lots of boxes!
We’ve been meaning to sort it for ages, but just haven’t found the time. We now have a new incentive to decluttering it. Because we don’t actually need a double garage, we don’t have enough outdoor items to fill one. Which means that once its tidied it will be mainly empty.
I’ve recently been introduced to ShedSpace which is a new concept. Basically they’ve seen that there are people that don’t have enough space in their homes for everything and there are people that have empty spaces going to waste, and they wanted to put the two together.
How Does It Work?
There will be someone in your community who has the space for your items, whereas before you might have considered throwing something away, you no longer have to thanks to ShedSpace. All you need to do is head over to their website and search by location to find someone near you who is renting out space. ShedSpace won’t charge you, you and the renter will agree a fee for you to rent the space. Plus your items will be insured by ShedSpace too, bonus!
Or, maybe you’re someone with an empty space that is going to waste. It might be your garage like me, or a shed, or a spare room. You could help out a neighbour by renting out or space, whilst also making an income hassle free. It’s better than having a lodger!
It couldn’t be easier!
I know you’re all probably now either looking around your house thinking about that space you have that you could rent out or, you’re about to jump onto their website and see if someone near you can give you that extra space you desperately need!
Once we’re back from holiday, Andy and I are on a mission to sort out our garage and see what space we have left at the end.
