What does a Saturday late afternoon/early evening look like in your house? For us it’s all about family time. No matter what we’ve done during the day, we love nothing better than sitting down as a family and playing board games. They are a great way to bring the family together, for everyone to be involved and have some fun. And if we’re feeling like a treat, we order a take away too. Followed by a movie, it’s a perfect Saturday night for us.
Little Tikes recently got in touch to ask us to take part in their Kids vs Adult Game Challenge and this was perfect for us.
We set up our blackboard to capture the scores as we went along.
We’ve had so many Little Tikes toys over the years, but I must admit I didn’t realise they did board games and as they are a brand that we love, I couldn’t wait to see what they had to offer. We started with the Crazy Toaster game, which is for 4 people and you basically have to catch the toast as it pops out of the toaster.
Each person chooses a pan and a plate. You then carefully place all 40 pieces of toast into the toaster. Who I have to say is rather cute! The player to begin the game is the person who woke up the earliest, this is a nice little quirk to the game. They then press down on the toaster’s nose to start it.
The toaster will pop out a few pieces of toast at a time and you have to try and catch them in your pan. Trying to match them to the pieces of toast on your plate.
The girls loved it when the toaster pops out the toast, its very exciting and they did well at trying to catch it. Sometimes the toast does bounce out of your pan, but for young players this still counts as a catch. You have to try and avoid catching the stinky fish, if you want to win!
Crazy toaster is great family fun. It’s easy to play, the girls laughed every time the toast popped up and there is nothing annoying about it. Which is always a win for parents!
The girls were quick to keep score on the blackboard too and of course they were delighted to be winning!
With our takeaway ordered, it was time for us to try and beat the girls are the next game, Crazy Blender.
Crazy Blender is just as much fun as Crazy Toaster. This time you are given pieces of fruit to place into the blender. You take it in turn to feed the blender matching fruits as you go, so if Alice put in a card with apple and banana on it, then Holly had to put in a card with one of those fruits on it. And so on.
Each person starts of with 3 cards and if you can’t go, then you take a card from the pile. It was really easy for the girls to follow and one that they could both play and enjoy.
It’s a great game for Holly to understand her fruit and for them both to practice pairing things up. The colours help them too.
The bit they love the most is the blender will randomly spit out cards and whoever’s turn it is at that moment, gets those cards. Which means they have even more cards to get rid of.
The winner is the person to lose all their cards first. Of course the girls won this game too!
We loved both the games and we all great fun playing them. Both games are priced at £12.99 and you can buy them from Amazon.
With girls enjoying their win and our tummies full from our takeaway, it was time to snuggle up and watch a film.
