This year I am joining in with Stevie’s Liked and Loved linky. It’s a chance for me to look back at the month and share with you what I’ve liked and loved.
May has been a lovely month, it has two bank holidays for a start what is there not to love. It feels like it’s been a really short month and we’ve whizzed through it.
Here is what I liked and loved in May…
Bank Holiday – Time With Friends
At the start of the month on the Bank Holiday Monday we went to a local fete with some friends. It was a really lovely day, they girls all played really nicely together and they were throughly entertained. Alice got to have her first ride on a pony and as you can see from her beaming smile she loved it. I’m hoping we can get her riding another pony soon. It was just the way Bank Holidays should be, relaxed and making the most of the extra day off.
As a child I would plant sunflowers in our garden every year and my nan would do the same in her garden. We would have a race to see who could grow the tallest sunflower. It is such a big part of my childhood and where my love for sunflowers came from. last year the girls and I planted some, but we left it a bit late and they weren’t the best. This year I’ve been more organised and we planted them a couple of weeks ago. They loved it and they are already growing. If you fancy growing some sunflowers, I wrote a simple guide last year which you can read here.
If you ask Alice what she would like to do at the weekend or when she is on school holidays the answer is normally the same. The park please mummy. I love that she enjoys the simple things in life, that she doesn’t ask to go on big days out. Sometimes I feel bad that we go to the park so much. that I should make more effort. But when it’s what she wants to do and it makes her happy I try and put that to the back of mind. The girls just have so much fun there.
One thing I love about the sunny weather is being able to wear sandals. I hate having my feet in socks and boots, even though that it what I live in during the winter. I much prefer them to be out. I have more sandals and flip flops than one person needs, but I live in them for as long as I can get away with. I am normally the last person to put them away for the winter.
Time For Me
I’m rubbish at having time for me, but I’ve also come to learn that this is essential for me. I need time to recharge my mummy batteries and when I do it makes me a better mummy. Most of the time I just have a few hours to myself and this is all I need. Last weekend I went to Manchester for my blog and it was lovely. I spent time with friends, met new friends and was just me. Yes, I missed my family, but the girls had so much fun with daddy and I think it does them good to have this time with him. He works so hard for us and I know that when I’m not around he treats them. And so he should! I came back tired, desperate to see my girls. But also refreshed and ready to be mummy again.
I love a trip the cafe and it looks like my girls do too. Probably because they’ve been going with me ever since they were born. I love that both girls are now older to appreciate it. They are happy to sit and enjoy a drink and a cake. It’s a chance for us to talk and I love it. Alice has her favourite cafe because it does the best cake.
Alice is now on half term which means that May is ending even better. I love having both my girls home and it looks like the sun is sticking around.
