This year I am joining in with Stevie’s Liked and Loved linky. It’s a chance for me to look back at the month and share with you what I’ve liked and loved.
July has been such a busy month, the amount of things that go on at school in this last term is crazy. I am so pleased that the school holidays are finally here.
Here is what I liked and loved in July…
Holly had her first sports day at preschool and it was really cute. Andy and I didn’t go with any expectations that she would join in, as we both still have the memory of Alice clinging to her teacher on her first sports day. But this was not the case for Holly. Not only did she sit nicely the whole time waiting patiently for her turn. But when it was her turn, she got up and did exactly what she was meant to do and by the end of it she had won all 3 races. We couldn’t have been prouder of her.
We’re a little bit late to the party with National Trust. Whilst we’ve been to a couple of places over the years it’s not something that we had considered to be part of. A few months ago we decided to become members and at just £9 a month for the whole family it is amazing value. We are now making our way around all the ones local to us and we had a wonderful day out at Cliveden this month. It’s beautiful there and has a brilliant play area for children. We will definitely be making more visits over the summer.
Since moving to our new home the play area with all the toys hasn’t been my priority. What we had in the previous house was still all good furniture and we organised it all and it was fine. The trouble with moving to a new house is sometimes the furniture just doesn’t fit properly or isn’t giving you what you need from the room. This was the case for us and we decided to change the furniture we had.
We moved some of the furniture into Alice’s room which has created a nice place for toys and she is really happy. And I am really happy with the new furniture we have downstairs. The room suddenly looks bigger and the toys all fit better. Plus there is room for any toys they girls may be lucky enough to receive for their birthday’s next month.
I know I’ve said this before but one of the best things about blogging has been the friends that I’ve made. I’ve been lucky to meet up with lots of lovely bloggers and had some fun times. This month Holly and I went on a road trip to meet Laura and her daughter. We choose a National Trust property half way between us and took a picnic. Holly and I had a lovely time and it was really nice to meet Laura and chat to her, not just about blogging but as normal friends too. Meeting people that ‘get’ blogging is wonderful though and they too have 100’s of photos! I hope we get to meet up again soon.
When we went on our first family camping trip in June, a friend of ours made pancakes for the children’s breakfast. Well you would have thought that Alice had never had pancakes before and she hoovered up 4 pancakes with maple syrup. Since we got back she has asked if we could make pancakes for breakfast and so on a couple of weekends when we’ve had a slower start to the day we’ve made them and it’s been lovely. And rather yummy too!
A few months ago a Spa local to us that I’ve been to before had a fantastic offer and my sister in law booked up to go. The day finally came around a couple of weeks ago and one Sunday morning I headed off to spend a couple of hours there. We had an hour in the hot tub with a class of prosecco, followed by a back massage. To say I was in heaven is an understatement. It was amazing and just what I needed. I’m already wanting to plan another one.
We are now on day two of the summer holidays and I am loving having both my girls home for six weeks…
