When I was a toddler I had a few curls in my hair, just like my little Holly does now. But around my third birthday they dropped out and I was left with straight hair. As teenager I would use a crimper to try and add something different to my hair, but over the years I’ve just accepted that I have straight hair and look with envy when people had gorgeous curls in their hair.
The only time that I’ve had any curls in my hair and they’ve stayed in all day and night was on my wedding day. I loved how it looked, yet I still felt like me.
I was recently sent the Xtava Satin Waves curler I couldn’t wait to give it a try and see if it would work on my hair, as I’ve yet to find one that does.
It comes with with the curling iron and 5 interchangeable ceramic tourmaline barrels, each of different sizes to give tighter or looser curls.
The curling iron has 9 different temperature settings suitable for different hair types, a digital display, rapid heat technology and a 60 minute auto sleep mode.
It was has an 8’10” 360 degree swivel cord and comes complete with a travel bag and heat resistant glove.
Last weekend I was heading to Manchester for a blogging conference and the night before I was heading out for dinner with some friends. I thought this would be a great chance to try it out, as I never go out anymore.
Once I had realised that I need to have it on quite a high temperature setting for my hair for the curl to actually take, I was all set.
I used heat protective spray on my hair and sectioned it off to start the curls. Once I had found my technique I got quicker at doing it.
I couldn’t believe the curls in my hair…
I was really pleased with how my hair looked once I had curled it all, the real test for me was how long until they dropped out!
And the answer, they didn’t do too badly. I think with some extra hair spray to hold them I would have got a better result. I can’t wait to try out the other curlers for a tighter curl!
The Xtava Satin Wand 5 in 1 curler is currently on sale at Amazon for £21.99, which is a great price.
