I’ve always loved Christmas, but since I became a parent I love it even more. I love how magical it is for little ones and seeing how excited they get at this time of year.
As Alice got older and became more aware of what Christmas was all about, I started to think about the traditions that I wanted us to have as a family. There are things that we do that were traditions from when I was a child that have carried on in my adult life. But there are a lot of things about that weren’t around when I was a little girl. There was no elf on the shelf for me!
One of the traditions that I love is having a Christmas box, which is basically a box full of goodies. Disney Store recently got in touch and asked if they could send both my girls a Christmas box each, filled with some Disney goodies. Knowing how much my girls love Disney, I couldn’t wait to see their faces.
Alice’s box was a Moana themed box, filled with pyjamas, a mug, Christmas tree decoration, slippers and Pua from Moana,
Holly had a Frozen and Minnie Mouse themed box, filled with pyjamas, a straw cup, an Elsa tree decoration, slippers and Sven from Frozen.
One late afternoon/early evening (please excuse the light in the photos, I had Christmas lights on and it was dark) the girls excitedly opened their Christmas boxes. Once they saw the pyjamas they were undressed and in them in record time.
They hung their Elsa and Moana decorations on the tree.
Cuddling Pua and Sven we got ready to snuggle up and watch a film. Can you guess which film we watched?
With the best sparkly slippers I’ve seen. They loved having matching pairs and felt like princesses.
No movie night is complete in our house without a hot chocolate for Alice and a glass of milk for Holly. Alice loved that the mug was nice a tall to fit in all the marshmallows.
I don’t need an excuse to get my pyjamas on and join the girls. Snuggling on the sofa, with a hot chocolate is one of my favourite things to do with them.
Yes of course we watched…Moana!
As a special treat we brought their duvets down and as you can see Holly was mesmerised watching Moana.
It was really lovely to see the girls excited about their Christmas boxes and that a lovely tradition like this brought us together for a nice family movie night.
I haven’t been able to get Alice out of her Moana pyjamas and Holly wants to wear her sparkly slippers to preschool. Which means we can safely say they loved them.
If you are looking for some lovely Disney gifts this Christmas, you can find them all in their Christmas shop at the Disney Store online.
I love making memories as a family and a Christmas Box is a tradition that we will be doing every year. Do you have any family traditions?
