A Day In The Life Of…Winnettes

I’m back with another A Day In The Life Of… It’s a chance for other bloggers to share what a typical day looks like for them. I’m proper nosey and I love to see what people get up to in their day. It’s also a great chance for you to find some more blogs that you might like to follow.

Today we have Kirsty from Winnettes. Kirsty is a stay at home to 2 gorgeous girls, Ellie and Trixie.

Over to Kirsty…

Firstly a huge thank you to Laura for letting me be part of this series. I thought it would be a good time to document a day in our lives as our routine has recently changed with Ellie starting school. I am a huge lover of routine so the school hours for me are great as they help keep things rolling.

I have chosen to write about our Friday’s as they are my favourite day by far!

6.00: My alarm goes off… I snooze it twice* and then get up and get ready for the day.

(*ok, it is a few more times than twice but I have always needed quite a few alarms to wake up!)

7.00: I go and get Ellie and Trixie up if they haven’t already surfaced for the toilet.

7.05: I send the girls in to wake up their Daddy…. Serious why can’t a grown man get himself up?

7.10: We head downstairs for breakfast. I’m going to go into a bit of detail about this because I love how the girls help with breakfast… This is why I love routine. Everyone knows what to expect.

  1. We all go into the kitchen.
  2. I fill up the coffee machine whilst Ellie opens the cereal cupboard.
  3. Both the girls choose their breakfast and put the boxes on the side for me whilst I push go on the coffee.
  4. I make their drinks up whilst Ellie and Trixie get their bowls and spoons out.
  5. The girls take their drinks and spoons over to the dining table whilst I make the breakfast.
  6. We all sit down. The girls eat and Hubby and I have coffee (he has surfaced by now).
  7. When the girls have finished eating they take their bowls into the kitchen and then head upstairs ready to get dressed.

I promise all of that is true. We are a well-oiled machine in the mornings and that has come from doing the same thing every single day no matter if it is mid week or weekend. If the girls are tired they often need verbal prompting of the job in hand but they still do their little responsibilities.

8.00: We head back downstairs to get all our stuff together and shoes on for the school run.

8.15: We start our walk to school.

9.00: Trixie and I arrive back home. She plays in the playroom and watches some cartoons.

11.00: We head out for Trixie’s baby ballet class.

11.45 – 12.15: Baby Ballet. I love this half an hour because I get to give Trix my undivided attention and she loves it because she gets to dance.

12.30: We stop at Waitrose on our way home to get some bits for Friday night dinner.

13.00: Lunch time! It is usually just a sandwich for each of us. After lunch it is just a bit of play time for Trixie and I usually get a little blogging done.

14.30: Go to pick up Ellie.

14.30/16.00: Head to the pub. This is the one day a week where hubby tries to get all his work done so we can pop out for an hour before dinner. It doesn’t always work out but when it does we go to the pub for a drink and a bag of crisps.

18.00: Dinner time for the girls. This is the one night a week where we don’t eat with them. Fridays are reserved for freezer dinner for the girls and spicy/expensive dinners for us.

18.30: Bath time!

19.00: Bedtime! I do like bedtime.

Once the girls are in bed and asleep the wine gets opened and we start cooking our dinner. Friday night is always considered a ‘date night’ to us so we make the extra effort to not look at our phones and the TV stays off.  Saturday resumes the normal service 😉
