I’m back with another A Day In The Life Of… It’s a chance for other bloggers to share what a typical day looks like for them. I’m proper nosey and I love to see what people get up to in their day. It’s also a great chance for you to find some more blogs that you might like to follow.
Today we have Sophie from Life As Mrs D, Sophie lives with her husband and their daughter Isla.
Here is what a typical day looks like for her…
I think with most people, no two days are the same. The days that Isla is at nursery in the afternoon are very different to this, as we have to be doing certain things at certain times in the morning to ensure that she is ready for nursery in time. But this is what a typical day looks like for us.
06.55: Chris says goodbye to me as he gets up for work, leaving me in bed. Sometimes Isla is already snuggled up in bed with me, other times she is still sound asleep in her cot. It depends on whether I fall back asleep after feeding her in the night!
07.30 – 09.30: At some point Isla will decide to wake up. It’s rare that she wakes up at 7:30, usually it’s somewhere around the 8:30/9am mark. Unless its a nursery day, in which case she decides she wants to sleep in those days and I have to wake her up so that she is tired enough later on to sleep during nap time at nursery. Either way, I refuse to get out of bed before 9am!!! We have a snuggle and play in bed, and Isla will have a feed.
09.30: Breakfast. The first thing I do though is make a coffee, and then I sort out Isla’s breakfast. Chris’s has already prepared my breakfast the night before (he claims his biggest husbanding success is getting me to eat breakfast!)
10.00: I breastfeed Isla, sometimes she only quickly snacks, other times we can be there for what feels like ages! We then read some books (twenty times over!) and play with her toys.
11.00: Sometimes I’m a bad mummy and turn on CBeebies while I do a couple of chores or blogging bits. Other days we head out to a play group for a few hours, or to soft play with friends.
13.00: We start the process of trying to get Isla to have a nap, some days this is better than others. On occasion this can taken an hour or so, and I give up and take her for a drive instead to get her to sleep. Some days she is asleep in minutes. There is no rhyme or reason as to when she will fall asleep!
15.00: We have a very late lunch once Isla wakes up! And then sometimes go out to meet up with some friends, or we get EVERY single toy and book out, and walk all over them. That’s what they’re for isn’t it!? Sometime during the afternoon Isla will have another feed, again it can be a quick snack, or a mammoth feed. Depending on how distracted she gets!
17.00: Daddy gets home! Isla plays with him for a while, while I do some washing up, or do a few other chores. Sometimes we will head up to the allotment, where Isla will spend ages waving at the “goh-gohy” (goats) in the next field.
19.00: We have dinner all together. Sometimes Isla will wolf it all down, other times she just wants to move it from one pile on the table to another, and she barely eats anything.
20.00: Isla has a bath with either Mummy or Daddy. There are lots of bubbles, lots of splashing, and lots of throwing her toys (full of water) out of the bath.
20.30: Whoever didn’t have a bath with Isla will give her a bottle of milk in her room, and get her to sleep. This can take anything from 10 minutes to 90 minutes. One day we will crack getting her to sleep!
21.00 – 23.00: We tidy the house as quietly as we can, water the garden, and then collapse on the sofa to watch a little bit of TV before going to bed. Hoping that she will sleep through!
