As we are approaching March and Mother’s Day is right at the end of March, it made me think about what my ideal Mother’s Day would be.
Of course it would ideally start with a lie in, but if you ask my husband he would tell you I get this anyway, which of course isn’t true! It would be amazing if the girls hadn’t woken me up during the night, but no one is a miracle worker and if we could guarantee this, we would be very rich people!
My day would always include being with my family. The girls love to make a fuss of me on Mother’s Day and I love that. One year we asked Alice what she would like to do and she said, take Mummy to the coffee shop for cake and hot chocolate, and that is exactly what we did. It doesn’t have to be big grand things for me, if it is their idea then it is even more special.
We are a family that love to be outdoors and my ideal Mother’s Day would definitely include a walk with my family. There is nothing better than getting outside and some fresh air. Even on the tough parent days, I always feel better if we go outside.
My girls love a walk too and its a great opportunity to have a chat as we walk along, especially with Alice as she loves to talk. Holly will be off collecting sticks and stones. Which we will then have to talk about taking them home or leaving them behind!
When we get home, it’s a chance to snuggle up on the sofa and watch a film. I can guarantee it will either be Peter Rabbit or Mary Poppins, they are the current favourites.
I love meal times, especially at the weekends when life is a little less hectic and we can sit and have a chat about life. Alice comes out with the most random topics that we end up talking about.
When it comes to food, we are a big pizza loving family and it is one meal that I know my fussy eater Holly will eat. And to be honest on Mother’s Day I can do without a mealtime battle.
I love this 3 piece pizza set from VonShef, it comes with a ceramic pizza stone that can go in the oven with your pizza on to cook, giving it a professional pizza result.
When its time to serve the pizza, you have this brilliant wooden pizza board with a paddle handle. I find that if the girls can help themselves to their food, they are more likely to eat it.
To cut the pizza, you get a pizza cutter, which makes cutting your pizza a lot easier.
Of course it wouldn’t be Mother’s Day if I didn’t celebrate a little bit and have a glass of wine with our dinner. It’s not something that we normally do and when we do, we save it for when we have dinner with the girls in bed. But as it’s Mother’s Day!
I love these brushed gold wine glasses, they match my room perfectly and I am a little bit obsessed with gold at the moment. They hold a lot of wine, which is great and they are really nice to drink out of. We felt very fancy with them. They keep the wine cooler for longer too, which is a bonus.
My ideal Mother’s Day would then end with the girls going straight to bed, without them getting out for the toilet, to tell me something really important, or that they love me. I can dream right?
What would your ideal Mother’s Day be?
