Bringing Some Kindness Into Someone’s Day…

Bringing Some Kindness Into Someone’s Day…

There is no doubt that life is busy, we go from one day to the next just about getting by with our own routines. I often to talk to mum about how life is busy and she says that the life my generation live is so much busier than when she was a mum with two children. I guess we live in a world with so much more opportunity and we are definitely a generation that is looking for something bigger and better.

This can often mean that things pass us by and we don’t take the time to acknowledge them. It’s not because we don’t care or that we are not bothered, but probably that we have just forgotten or we didn’t know about it. I know that I am guilty of collapsing on the sofa after a long day, browsing Facebook to see that some life event has happened to a friend and quickly sending them a message so that they don’t think I am the worst friend in the world.

It was recently national Random Act Of Kindness Day and a chance to make a difference to someone’s day. My first thought was do we need a day to do this, shouldn’t we do it anyway. But as I said before, life is busy and I know that I have been guilty of getting caught up in my own little world.

So, when Contact Number UK set me a challenge to find a gift with Amazon Prime, as they can save the day and deliver in one day. So, even a busy mum like me has no excuse to not be able to buy gifts on time. I decided that I would take part and I knew exactly which person in my life needed a bit of kindness in her life.

My spoken before on my blog about my friend Shelley and her fight with Cancer, we ran the race for life together last year for the charity Mummy’s Star that supported Shelley and her family at a time when they needed it most. I can’t begin to tell you what life has been like for them for the last three years. But I am pleased to say that Shelley is currently fighting fit and we hope and pray everyday that the cancer doesn’t return.

2017 is going to be Shelley’s year, I just know it and she has started with a bang! She is having a career change, that means more time with her gorgeous boys and they have just brought their new home. I am so happy for them all, they deserve every bit of happiness that comes their way.

So without a doubt my lovely friend who has also been a wonderful support to me,  especially over the last couple of months. Well actually she has been a brilliant support for longer than that, without even realising she was doing it. Shelley was the person that I wanted to give a random act of kindness too.

I set about finding the perfect gift for her new home and the minute I saw it, I knew it was perfect…

I wrote her a little note to go with it too and wrapped it up.

I am so pleased that the email dropped into my inbox asking me take part in the Random Act Of Kindness campaign, because not only did it give me the chance to do something lovely for my friend. ( I would just like to point out that I paid for the gift!). But, it’s done more than that. It’s reminded me of the joy of doing something unexpected for someone in your life.

Life has definitely not taken the path I wanted it to over the last couple of years, but I am determined that this will be the kick start to going back to doing more for others. I’ve definitely lost my way in life at the moment, but I am putting it back together one piece at a time.

What a fabulous friend you are, such a lovely gift. You are so right, we are so busy it’s really nice to stop and think about the people around us, who might just be in need of a little random act of kindness!

Aw, that’s gorgeous, I like that, and perfect for a new house! I know that when I was younger, I never forgot anything especially birthdays, but something about getting older and having kids that somehow means we don’t always have time for the other things we should be doing, like appreciating the people we love most!

What a lovely post and an amazing thing to do for your friend. I love the fact that RAOK day exists but sadly I’ve never managed to do anything for it, I should do really. RAOKs should just be a part of everyday life really shouldn’t they?

I love this idea, someone left a pot of flowers on my doorstep once with a random act of kindness note. It was one of the nicest things someone’s ever done & I’ll never forget it. Fingers crossed for your friend too.(I think I need Amazon Prime!)
