One thing that I quickly learnt last year as a new school mum was to be prepared early. You really don’t want to be leaving getting everything brought and organised too late, as everything sells out early. I passed this valuable information onto a few friends of mine who have children starting this September.
Back in January Holly started preschool for one morning a week and I’ll be honest I was not organised. With moving house just before Christmas and then Christmas itself, I just didn’t plan what she would need and then her first day was approaching and I suddenly thought about her needing a backpack.
This meant her having to make do with an old one that I found in amongst our boxes that we were still unpacking. Of course she didn’t mind and went off quite happily with it. But I did feel guilty that I hadn’t thought to buy her own new one.
When she goes back in September we are increasing her hours as we start to prepare her for going to school the following September. I still can’t believe that my baby is only a year away from going to school, but we won’t go there just yet!
This feels like a bigger step for us, as she will be away from me for longer and I’m really going to miss her. Plus my house will be so quiet with both girls not here. So, when I was asked if I wanted to review a My Little Pony Backpack, I jumped at the chance. I knew that Holly would love it and it would take away some of that guilt of her not having her own.
Of course she loved it from the minute she saw it. Holly has always been a little girl that loves bags, she just has this thing for them. Probably another thing she has inherited from me, as I too love bags.
It was straight on her back and off she went, glancing back trying to get a look of it. It was an instant hit.
She kept asking me is it mine mummy, just too cute and maybe a sign that she is the second child!!!
There are a few things that I love about the backpack and what makes it ideal for preschool or school…you can wipe it clean, it’s nice and bright so hopefully you can spot it easily and it holds everything we need easily. But most of all Holly loves it and that makes it even better.
We also got sent a great set of stationery which both my girls loved. Seeing sets like this reminds me of my own childhood and I loved getting a new pencil case, with pens etc ready for the new school year.
Of course Holly wanted to put it all in her backpack and I adore this photo of her zipping up the bag. The concentration and determination on her face, just sums up my little girl!
And then she popped it back on and was all set. Of course not quite set for school yet, as we are on our summer holidays, but you know what I mean.
You can find a full range of back to school backpacks from Sambro, in Very, Sainsbury and Argos.
Whilst I don’t want to wish the summer holidays away, we still have so many exciting things to do and of course go on our holiday. But I can’t wait to see my little girl proudly wear her new backpack to preschool in September.
Disclosure: We were kindly sent our backpack and stationery in return for an honest review. All views and opinions are my own.
