On our recent holiday to Cornwall, one place that we knew we wanted to visit using our Premium Merlin Annual Passes, was the Seal Sanctuary, in Gweek. Our girls love animals and were excited to go and see the seals.
We headed there one morning and arrived in time for opening. We were given a map and told that we could either catch a bus to the main part or walk, we decided to walk as it wasn’t far.
As were walking along we explained to the girls about the work that the seal sanctuary does and how these seals are here to get better. The work that the sanctuary does to look after these much loved animals.
They loved seeing the seals and watching them swim.
They have a convalescence pool which had seals lying on the side or swimming and popping their head up to say hello.
There was an empty pool with this sign in it, explaining that it was empty because it is normally filled with grey seal pups, but they’ve managed to successfully released all of this years pups back into the wild. Which is great news!
They have a Pirate Bay adventure play area, which the girls loved. There were seats next to it, which gave Andy and I a nice rest while we watched them. I think this is the biggest change to our holiday this year, with Holly now able to do things herself and we don’t have to shadow her.
We then headed to go and look at the penguins, which we always love to see. They are just so cute.
They had a game for the girls to do, matching up the penguins to the descriptions which they loved doing.
We then went to find the otters and on our way we found a bug hotel.
There are lovely nature walks that you can do too and we headed off on one.
We had a lovely morning at the Seal Sanctuary and the girls loved seeing the seals, penguins and otters. As well as having a play at pirate bay.
Disclosure: We are working with Merlin Annual Pass this year as ambassadors. Thank you Merlin for providing us with a year of fun.
