90 Activities To Do With Children This Summer…

We’re now on our summer holidays with six weeks stretched out ahead of us and I know for me and other parents this can be a bit daunting. How will we entertain them every day? And more importantly how will we do it without spending a fortune?

More and more parents are feeling the pressure to keep their children entertained with days out and the costs can spiral out of control.

Germolene have done a recent study and an average parent spends £650 just on family trips during the six weeks off and over one in five parents feel there are a lack of free events in their local area.

Germolene have launched the 90 Days Of Summer free guide, as part of Celebrating Outdoor Play Every Day Campaign. It has been written in collaboration with Megan Hine and psychologist Emma Kenny. The guide is packed with 90 creative ideas to help families enjoy the outdoors without a fortune.

The guide is split into 9 different sections and has a key guide, to show you activities that don’t take very long, activities that will cost you a little bit and activities if the weather isn’t great.

Each section has 10 activities and I will share with you a couple from each…

Garden Play

  • Hunt for hidden treasure
  • Secret dens
  • DIY water slide

Park Play

  • DIY crazy golf
  • Picnic party
  • Rocket riot

The great thing about the outdoors is that it is one of the only things in life that is free.

Beach Play

  • Pebble art
  • Chase the surf
  • Search for treasure

Quick Play

  • A bit of magic
  • Laser play
  • Patio patterns

Holiday Play

  • Holiday movie
  • Pick some fruit
  • Snap happy

Grandparents can play a big role in shaping children into the adults they become

Grandparent Play

  • Time capsule
  • Paint a portrait
  • Flower power

Take All Day Play

  • Borrow my doggie
  • Walk with a map
  • Host your own mini Olympics

Solo Play

  • Sensory art
  • Strick it lucky

Rainy Day Play

  • Mud pies
  • Go on a bug hunt
  • Inside-out

The guide has lots more ideas within each section and you can find the full 90 Days of Summer guide here.
